A child-centered, multi-sensory course focused on early literacy skills to enhance and enrich young learners’ reading journeys.

Ashley McTaggart is a Certified Reading Specialist and former Haddonfield School District teacher as well as a successful private reading tutor. She is bringing small group instruction to PreK and Kindergarten students looking to start an intensive journey to stronger literacy skills starting winter 2025.

Curriculum Details:

Early literacy skills targeted: letter recognition, letter/sound correspondence, letter formation, name writing, listening comprehension, vocabulary, rhyme and wordplay to build phonological awareness
75 mins:
- 30 mins – whole group: Question of the day, skill of the day, read aloud activity/game
  - Activities/Game: Musical Letters, Sound Store, Alphabet Train, etc.
- 35 mins – centers: students rotate between 3 (2 independent, 1 teacher directed)
  - Centers: playdough mats, stamping, writing in sand/rice, etc.
- 10 mins – closing circle: review the day’s learning and share

Refund Policy *

Refund requests must be received in writing at least 10 days prior to class start date, addressed to info@markeimartscenter.org. Those requesting a refund may opt to apply full cost of paid tuition to another course registration within 2 semester sessions of the current semester (i.e., Fall I applicable to Fall II or Winter I) – or if preferred, a refund will be processed to the form of payment, less an administrative fee of $30. No refund will be given if canceled within ten days of the start date of the course.
