Discover the Art of Seeing the World Through a Lens

This fun, hands-on class introduces youth to the fundamentals of photography while encouraging creativity and visual storytelling. Students will learn basic camera functions, composition, lighting, and how to capture portraits, nature, and action shots.

Students can experiment with a variety of cameras during class, including 3 Canon Rebel cameras with lenses and flash, 6 point-and-shoot cameras, and 6 Polaroid cameras. Students are also welcome to bring their own camera (Canon preferred).

Classes are intentionally small (maximum of 6 students) to allow for personalized instruction and plenty of hands-on learning. Students will also be introduced to a professional photography workflow using Adobe Bridge for organizing photos and Photoshop for basic editing on the instructor’s Mac Pro laptops with Adobe Creative Cloud.

Each student will receive a flash drive to store their images and will have the opportunity to print a favorite photo on professional photo paper to take home.

Instructor: Kristen Davila — working photographer and owner of KD Design & Photos. BFA in Graphic Design with a Minor in Photography from Philadelphia University of the Arts.
