Down the Shore – Landscape Photography

February 4 - February 29

Transport yourself to the Shore in mid-Winter. Join us from February 4th to the 28th as we celebrate the work of John Vlahakis. The event will kick off with an opening reception on Sunday, February 4th, from 1 to 4 PM. Open to the public.

John, a Society of Media Photographers member, has pieces in museums and private collections worldwide.  You can also see his work in the public art installation next time you fly out of Terminal A in Newark.

John was born in Chicago, USA, to Greek immigrant parents.  He studied political science and communications and received a BS and an MBA from Northwestern University. John spent the next few decades combining a passion for preserving the planet with his business knowledge to create a highly successful environmental home cleaning product line and international business.  Throughout his career, he took time to travel and pursue his other passion, photography.

Along the way, he fell in love with the Jersey Shore.  Since 2020, he has been working on two projects, “Enduring City” landscapes of Athens, Greece, and “The Jersey Shore.” When he is not traveling, John and his camera can be found at the Jersey Shore (long-time resident of Harvey Cedars, NJ), Athens, and Chicago.
